Unexpectedly His

Unexpectedly His (Entangled Lovestruck) (Smart Cupid) - Maggie Kelley

This was a really fun and relatively short read that had me smiling the whole time. This is the second book in the Smart Cupid series but it can definitely be read as a standalone because that is how I read it and I didn't have any trouble figuring out who everyone was and what was going on. In fact I would really be interested in going back and reading about Jane and Charlie.

I really liked both the male and female main characters, Nick and Marianne. I was at first smoothed with Nick's stubbornness in his attempt to keeping to his serial dating ways but once I learned about his background with his family his fear of commitment made sense. I really didn't know what to make of Marianne's whole "inner siren" thing. Yes I liked when she finally got out of her shell but it was kind of weird when her and Jane kept referring to it as her 'siren' coming out.

This book had great steamy scenes. You would have thought that there wouldn't have been heat between Nick and Marianne early in the book with the way that they were thrown together but it gets hot quickly and scorches throughout. I was a much bigger fan of their chemistry than their conflict that happens towards the end.

I really enjoyed reading this and will definitely have to check out more books from this author. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the galley.
