The Girls of Atomic City: The Untold Story of the Women Who Helped Win World War II
This is an extremely fascinating look at the Manhattan Project in general but specifically the secret facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee that helped develop the Uranium for the atomic bombs. This book follows the young women that worked in Oak Ridge at Site X not knowing what exactly they were working on. They knew that they were working on something to end the war but the specifics were kept in the dark.I loved reading about these women and the work they did to help our country. Learning more about the process to build the atomic bomb was interesting but getting to read about these women's personal experiences made this book fascinating. This is a book I would highly recommend for those interested in the Manhattan Project and specifically for those interested in the roles women played in it. This is by far one of the best books I have read this year.
