Liz Murray's life has been far from easy. During her childhood her drug addict parents spent their welfare checks on their next high, and during her teenage years she became homeless shuffling around to different friends' houses or sleeping in hallways. You would think that with all the setbacks in her life that she would have just lied down and let life pass her by, but she strove for something better and worked her way to Harvard. Most of the time while reading this book I would forget that these things actually happened. I was hooked into the book and sometimes things were so horrific that it just felt like fiction. I applaud Liz Murray for not only turning her life around but also striving to help homeless teenage girls to get an education and find stability. I would highly recommend everyone to read this heartbreaking yet inspirational memoir.
