Reading progress update: I've read 54 out of 250 pages of "Labor Day" by Joyce Maynard.

Labor Day - Joyce Maynard

This book is putting me to sleep. This has been downright dull. I can't stand Henry's mother Adele. She seems to be a mix of agoraphobia and schizophrenia and she has forced her son to stay at home with her and rarely leave the house (he is allowed to go to school). Then she spouts off things that are inappropriate for him to hear. So when an escaped convict manages to go home with them do you think she calls the police when she finds out who he is? No, that would be too sane. So basically my problems with this so far are this book is so dull, Adele couldn't be more annoying, and I don't think that first person point-of-view is adding much to the story. I originally decided to read this when I saw the preview for the movie, so maybe I should just play "Stay" by Rihanna over and over while reading this.
