Authors can pay their way onto the New York Times Bestseller List?
This is an article on publisher Melville House Books website talking about how a Seattle church is now answering questions about how they paid a firm over $200,000 to get a book by their pastor on bestseller lists. Apparently this is not illegal but it really makes you think twice about the bestseller lists. The article goes into more detail (quoting World Magazine) on how the firm was able to go around safeguards put in place by the bestseller lists. So if you have $200,000 you are willing to shell out you just might get on a bestseller list too.
